We Are The World 25 – But What’s a Justin Bieber?

February 13, 2010

It’s almost 3am on a Saturday morning and my viewing of the completely turd Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony has been overshadowed by a certain discussion erupting on Twitter regarding the latest attempt at a marketing buzz surrounding the Haiti disaster.

Firstly, i am not against Charity Singles. I actually love the idea of the world’s biggest media forces using their manipulation for the great of good once in a national disaster. I mean, lets bang out a video of every major urban artist (bar Jay-Z who already got in first of course with Mr i will chop my arm off to be known as a philanthropist Bono… and Eminem, who i just assume is probably in India rehearsing his voice?). Video and Review: Bashy – Life

September 27, 2009

I wanted to do a separate post for a few videos this week rather than just throw them in the catch up post.

This one is Bashy and the video for Life. Firstly, what an awesome Video. Seems like they had a bit of budget to play with and it shows they got a very successful result in return. The original track is Produced by Toddla T (whose also been making moves this year) and is the 3rd single to drop from the album Catch Me If You Can. Read the rest of this entry ?

DJ Grind’s South Coast Freshers Preview

September 22, 2009

Mr. DJ Grind happens to have a weekly column in the South Coast’s leading paper, The News. This week he speaks about this years Freshers Fortnight Events on the South Coast, heading to London for the big Orange Rockcorps show (with me) and also mentions a little bit about yours truly! How about that…

“The next couple of weeks should be interesting. Its time for clubs and Portsmouth promoters to get their act together. Every week I write about what is going on and I have to skip out of town because nothing is happening, Big nights are happening in Bournemouth, Basingstoke and Southampton, But not Portsmouth. Well the students are starting to drift back into town now. And I still haven’t heard of any rumours about any nights happening or any performers coming to town. Maybe this is because 2 of the biggest promoters in Portsmouth are no longer involved in the scene. Luca Massaro (That’s Me) who organised the Revolution events has headed back to London and Lewis Doughty (One Night Stand) is about to have a baby (Well, His girlfriend is!) Should the scene really be so reliant on two people? Shocka B who has brought his R.U.M night to Portsmouth before is concentrating on Southampton now. The Portsmouth urban scene, just like its football team, is in real trouble. Read the rest of this entry ?

Video: Tinchy Stryder – Your Not Alone

September 21, 2009

Next video from Mr. Flee, no longer just him in front of a blue/green screen although he is doing his usual hand movements. Not one for real enthusiasm is Tinchy. Nope, you won’t be catching me skanking out on his tour (then again, i’d probably have to be a 15 year old girl to want to go). The tune is a massive rip of from a 90s classic by Olive. Produced by Rapid and Dirty Dangerous.

I didn’t get around to writing a review on Catch 22 mainly cos i really couldn’t be arsed as it was expectedly average. Got a lot of respect for Tinchy and what he has done, but i think he’s an artist in the right place at the right time and not actually naturally talented. (No shots).
But if were comparing UK talents and 2009 albums, lets give some props to Bashy who had a mad underrated album. Looking forward to Chipmunk’s release and then Mr. Hudson.

DJ Cable Presents… The Mash Down [Volume 3]

August 25, 2009

Here’s a nice and tidy free mixtape for your listening pleasure. Something to really get your daily skank on to. Courtesy of the technical whiz kid DJ Cable (DMC Team Champ) we have a disgusting murge of Dubstep, Grime, Bassline/UK Garage, and Southern Hip Hop.

From the likes of Crissy Criss, High Rankin, Rusko, Joker, Emalkay, Ruff Squad, Tempz, Bonecrusher, David Banner and more, the selection is pretty upfront and aggressive (sprinkled with a couple of classic anthems too), enough to keep your head bobbing in a dirty disclosure kind of discombobulate yet articulate manor. If you ain’t ready for pounding bass and grime riddims, leave it in the downloads folder till you are. Return and let this rule the roost.

Tyrese Breaks Records With New “Mayhem” Comic Book

July 14, 2009

Tyrese-Mayhem Pic

The last 12 hours for this blog have been crazy. After blasting off at around 12am with a post about Tyrese’s new project ‘Mayhem’ and his marketing grind, i sent the Transformers star my post via my twitter and he sent it out to his own twitter fan base. Within an hour i amounted over 1,500 hits. Now that’s marketing power.

The day starts today with a new story, and Tyrese is once again the talk of the web space. A press release has dropped and everyone is re-posting it via their blogs and via websites across the globe.
So it would be rude not to join the queue right? Correct… Enjoy! Read full press release after the jump. Read the rest of this entry ?
